To provide education services to international students in Australia, Swinburne must comply with the ESOS requirements as set out in the Education Services for Overseas Students Act (ESOS Act) and with the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students (the National Code).

Purpose of the ESOS Act and National Code

The ESOS legislation and National Code establish standards and procedures for the provision of courses to international students in Australia and specify minimum standards for the:

  • registration of providers and their courses
  • promotion and marketing
  • recruitment of students
  • enrolment
  • provision of services to students.

The ESOS Act and the National Code aim to ensure nationally consistent standards for the delivery of educational services to international students in Australia; to safeguard Australia's international reputation as a provider of high quality education and training; and to protect the interests of international students.

CRICOS registration

Swinburne is registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). This means we are able to offer courses to international students on student visas.
