Study tour overview

This study tour allows Swinburne Law School students the chance to apply your legal education to interpreting our nearest northern neighbour – Indonesia.

Learn about their rich legal and political environment and gain an entrée into the broader Asian region.

You will spend two weeks in Indonesia’s capital city of Jakarta and Yogyakarta, a sultanate and university town in Java. In Jakarta, you will visit several research sites, including a transnational law firm and Mega Kuningan (a private commercial district in the heart of the city). While in Yogyakarta you will be able to investigate local lived realities through visits to historical sites, religious schools and local communities.

The research sites will allow you to engage with transnational legal cultures in Jakarta and investigate local communities in Yogyakarta.
