Get help from other students
Sometimes it helps talking with a fellow student – they know what you’re going through. Improve your results in study groups and by meeting with Study Group Leaders and peers in the Swinburne community.
Study groups at Swinburne
Boost your academic performance by joining a Study Group of students studying the same unit and course or within the same school as you. Led by Study Group Leaders who are current Swinburne undergraduate students who have previously completed the unit and achieved academic excellence.
Study groups help deepen understanding of key concepts, with peers working together to make sense of difficult problems and collaborating to complete tasks. Regular study group attendees often achieve better results, on average 10 marks higher than the relevant cohort average.
Study groups are also a great way to make friends and practice useful study skills in a relaxed learning space – they are informal, fun, and completely free.
You’ll set yourself up for a successful first-year journey at Swinburne as our Study Groups are all in core first-year undergraduate units. Our Study Groups run twice a week in both Semester 1 & 2 from Week 2 until Week 12 of each semester and do not run during mid-semester break.
Students in the relevant unit of study can find information about the Study Group, including session times and location, on their unit's Canvas course within the unit’s Study Group module. Study Groups can also be self-organised with rooms in the library available for private study that can be booked by students.
Study Groups are facilitated by Study Group Leaders
The role of a Study Group Leader is to provide study support. For those interested, attending a Study Group can create a pathway to becoming a Study Group Leader.
