The Master of Aviation (Management) is designed to develop students’ understanding and approach to the multiorganisational aspects of commercial aircraft operation. It provides students with the necessary skills in the field of air transportation management. The program also provides insight into the multiple facets of management, including organisational, regulatory, technical and business contexts, and their application in the air transportation industry.

Course description
The Master of Aviation (Management) forms the final stage in a three-stage nested suite of programs consisting of:
Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Management) (GD-AVMGT)
Master of Aviation (Management) (MA-AVMGT)
The Master of Aviation (Management) qualifies graduates to undertake leadership management roles in the aviation industry. The course, primarily, is designed to meet the needs of personnel currently involved in the aviation industry who wish to upgrade their skills at tertiary level in the area of aviation management. The course consists of both core and elective units. Elective units may be taken from either the Aviation Management or Aviation Human Factors units, or other electives at AQF level 9 as approved by the Aviation Postgraduate Course Coordinator.
The program will provide students with the necessary skills in the field of air transportation management within the aviation industry. It will provide insight into the multiple facets of management and its application in air transportation. The program has been developed in partnership with the aviation industry. One of the unique aspects is that authors and lecturers from a number of fields contribute to this teaching. This provides a range of diverse views, ideas and practical examples and broadens the students' understanding of aviation management.

Course structure
To qualify for the Master of Aviation (Management), students must complete 12 units (150 credit points):
- 6 core units (75 credit points)
- 4 discipline units (50 credit points)
- 2 elective units (25 credit points)
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Master of Aviation (Management) award is 100 credit points (normally 8 units), this is based on exit award requirements of 150 credit points

On completion of the Master of Aviation (Management), graduates will be able to:
- demonstrate high-level advanced knowledge in professional aviation management practice
- identify and describe the complexity of issues and relationships in the aviation industry
- apply established models to implement solutions to a variety of industry scenarios
- describe contemporary and emerging aviation industry issues and challenges and to develop innovative strategies for implementation of effective management
- demonstrate a mastery of theoretical knowledge and reflect critically on professional aviation management practice
- plan and deliver an integrated capstone research experience using technical knowledge and research skills
- apply clear and coherent communication skills to justify propositions and professional decisions
- demonstrate responsibility and accountability for all personal work outputs.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for consideration for entry, applicants are required to have a minimum Bachelor Honours qualification (AQF Level 8) or Graduate Diploma qualification (AQF Level 8) in any of the following disciplines: Aviation; Business; Economics; Finance; Management; Law; Marketing; Engineering.
Applicants who are currently enrolled in the Aviation (Management) postgraduate nested suite will be considered for entry into the Masters course upon meeting the academic requirements of the Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Management).
Note: Students currently enrolled in a lower level course of the nested suite may apply to progress to a higher level course with full credit.
