If you’re preparing to start study in Semester 2, you're invited to complete up to two units this winter, and learn key skills to prepare you for the workforce or simply get ready for university life.
If you're a current student, you can also get ahead or catch up on your studies by using this break between semesters to keep accruing credit points towards your degree.
Winter term units can be counted towards your degree, or you could explore other subjects outside of your primary area of study. This new flexible start is perfect for all eligible students who want to relaunch their study goals or balance the load with other commitments.

Am I eligible for Winter Term?
Winter term is available to any student enrolled in a bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma or master degree.
If you’re a domestic student, you can select one (or two) Winter units that are part of your course (check your course planner) or as electives.
If you’re an international student, you can select one (or two) Winter units if you’re in Australia already and ready to start (or re-commence) your studies by 20 June, or you are able to arrive in Australia before 20 June. We encourage you to check your course planner to determine if any of the Winter units are required for your course or if you can enrol in them as electives.
Do I need to have met any pre-requisites?
Many of the Winter Term units do not have pre-requisites, which means you can enrol in these if you meet the criteria above. To check, click on the individual unit to read the unit information in detail.

How do I apply for, and enrol in, Winter Term?
- If you are a newly commencing domestic student, accept your course offer if you haven’t already. Then simply email domadmit@swinburne.edu.au and indicate which unit(s) you wish to study in Winter Term, and we will contact you to assist you to enrol into these units.
- If you are a newly commencing international student, accept your course offer if you haven’t already. Then email intadmissions@swinburne.edu.au and indicate which unit(s) you wish to study in Winter Term, and we will contact you to assist you to enrol into these units.
- If you are yet to apply for a course at Swinburne, complete your application first. If you are applying to study from Semester 2 onwards but are choosing to commence early in Winter Term, the intake on your application will be Semester 2.
- If you are a current / re-enrolling student, simply complete your enrolment for Winter Term units the same way you’d enrol for a standard Semester.

1. Any domestic Leave of Absence (LOA), Absence Without Official Leave (AWOL), or deferral enrolment in any winter or Semester 2 unit.
2. Returning or commencing domestic student enrolment in a winter term unit and full time study load in Semester 2.
3. Returning or commencing onshore International enrolment in a winter term unit and full time study load in Semester 2.
4. Voucher must be redeemed in person at the _now store Hawthorn campus, on Swinburne branded Merchandise in a single transaction.
