3D vision and its application

The principle of projection structure light for 3D vision of small objects is described. Three vision systems, projection fringe, projection speckle and a special ring light illumination system, are introduced. Several application examples are listed, that include the groove depth of a magnet head, a button shape measurement. The ring light illumination system is specially designed for the 3D vision of small objects with specular surface like BGA balls. The testing results listed in the paper reveal that these methods can satisfy the requirements of 3D vision of small objects.
