A trip on the light fantastic? Photonics for the life sciences.

Optical techniques in micromanipulation and biophotonics have come to the fore in recent years. In this
seminar I will give describe current areas of work in this field including near field micromanipulation, microfluidics, optical
sorting of cells and transfection of cells using light. I will emphasise the use of novel light modes for this work.
