The time-dependent and spectrally resolved nonlinear polarization induced in molecules or semiconductors
under strong 3-pulse 2-colour laser field have been investigated numerically. The programs for solution of density matrix equations
for 3- and 4-level systems with inhomogeneous broadening were developed. The role of such coherent effects as coherence transfer in
transient four- wave mixing processes, grating formation because of quantum beats and formation of photon echo signals is discussed.
Preliminary comparisons with experimental results for Rhodamine molecules and GaN – semiconductor were made.
