Swinburne have partnered with Pagoda Projects to offer a paid placement program in Taipei, Taiwan Province. Pagoda Projects will source a placement tailored to your area of study with a company in Taipei. They will also assist you with getting your visa, finding accommodation, and will be on call 24/7 in Taiwan Province to support you throughout the program.

  • Cost: A$3,180 – Placements will receive a salary of approximately A$900 per month
  • Funding: 10 x A$5,000 Australian Government New Colombo Plan Grants available to Australian students (with no citizenship or residency rights to Taiwan Province), who have not previously received an NCP semester-length grant
  • Applications open: 1 March 2020
  • Application deadline: 30 April 2020 – Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, with places (and scholarship if applicable) allocated to the first students to complete a full application and meet eligibility criteria.

Duration

6 or 12-month placement

  • Visa regulations in Taiwan Province only allow students to hold a placement for a maximum of six months in one company. 
  • For a 12-month placement, you will need a placement at two different organisations.

Dates

  • Arrival in Taipei: Monday 20 July 2020
  • First 6-month placement commences: Monday 27 July 2020
  • First 6-month placement ends: Friday 22 January 2021
  • Second 6-month placement commences (if applicable): Monday 1 February 2021
  • Second 6-month placement ends (if applicable): Friday 30 July 2021

Eligible students

  • Be a local or international undergraduate student enrolled in a standard three or four-year degree program (on-campus- SOL and OUA students are not eligible)
  • Have a weighted course average of 60% or higher
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 units/150 credit points in your degree
  • Have a minimum of 3 units/37.5 credit points remaining at the completion of the placement.
