Biography

Julie is an occupational therapist and a NZ registered hand therapist. She has worked in various settings in the UK and New Zealand including hand therapy, inpatient rehabilitation, rheumatology, and pain management. She is a member of Hand Therapy New Zealand and practiced in a large teaching hospital in the hand therapy outpatient clinic working alongside specialist hand surgeons and clinicians. She held an academic role at the Auckland University of Technology as a lecturer on the postgraduate hand and upper limb course. Julie has joined the occupational therapy team at Swinburne University of Technology as a lecturer in occupational therapy. Her research interests include the management of hand and wrist injuries with a particular focus on occupation-based approaches, evaluation of rehabilitation strategies, and equitable health outcomes for indigenous peoples. Julie is accredited for co-supervision at Doctoral and Masters level.
