Biography

Dr. Katherine Raw is a researcher working within the Sport Innovation Research Group in the Swinburne School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship. She completed her PhD at Swinburne University and her main research areas are focused upon the use of sport as a vehicle to foster social impacts, diversity and inclusion in sport, the management of sport for development, and monitoring and evaluation of sport for social impact initiatives.

Katherine has published research articles in ranked peer-reviewed sport management and sport for development journals, is a co-author of multiple textbook chapters, and is on the editorial board for the Journal of Sport for Development. She has also been involved in industry focused projects, both locally and internationally, working with national and state sporting organisations, governing bodies, non-governmental organisations, and intergovernmental organisations. Some of these partnerships include: Tennis Australia, the National Rugby League, Netball Australia, North Melbourne Football Club, GHD, and the Commonwealth Secretariat. In addition, her fieldwork has been completed across a range of locations locally, including greater Melbourne and Sydney, and internationally in Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, and East Timor.
