BIO

Researcher in Generative AI, Design cognition, and Design behaviour

I specialise in Generative AI, cognition, and experience in the field of architecture and design. My research explores how Generative AI shapes the way designers think and work, and I develop AI agents as co-designers to expand creative possibilities. With a background in architecture, digital fabrication, and design strategy, I bring a practicing designer’s perspective to emerging technologies, helping to bridge the gap between AI and design practice.

For design consultancies and architecture firms, I help integrate AI into workflows to enhance efficiency and creativity. Through consulting, team-based workshops, and in-depth interviews, I work closely with organisations and their teams to develop AI frameworks, increase design efficiency, and implement AI-driven workflows that support, not replace, designers’ expertise. My approach ensures AI adoption aligns with each firm’s vision and fosters meaningful innovation rather than automation for its own sake.

For scholars, I collaborate with design researchers who want to explore AI in their creative process, AI researchers looking to adopt more designerly ways of working, and scholars in more-than-human disciplines interested in experimenting with Generative AI. My expertise in co-creation and AI-enhanced design cognition helps researchers reimagine traditional research and design processes and uncover new ways of working with AI.

For prospective PhD students, I supervise research on Generative AI in design, particularly for those from backgrounds in architecture, HCI, AI, and cognitive science. As part of the Centre for Design Innovation at Swinburne University of Technology, I welcome discussions with students interested in how AI is reshaping creative practice and design cognition.
