Biography
Dr Savic focuses his research on the multifaceted impacts of digital and social media on interpersonal communication, social relationships, and community programs. He emphasises fostering data literacy and promoting digital inclusion, ensuring access and understanding of digital technologies for all. His broader research interests include the role of digital cultures, digital citizenship, privacy, advancement of data literacy, and the establishment of ethical AI governance structures.
His distinguished doctoral research, conferred in 2020, delved into the complex family dynamics that shape children's engagement with digital and social media. Specifically, Dr Savic investigated parent-child interactions as they assimilate and regulate digital devices and cultivate digital skills within the household. This research has significantly enriched our understanding of technology's integration into everyday life and elucidated the diverse practices influencing digital technology use.
As a proficient qualitative researcher, Dr Savic excels in research design, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement. His diverse academic and professional experiences, spanning international contexts, have honed his interpersonal and communication skills, allowing him to adapt efficiently to new people and environments. Dr Savic is dedicated to bridging the gap between academic research and real-life applications by translating theoretical knowledge into practical solutions that address intricate social challenges faced by contemporary communities.
In 2023, Dr Savic was honoured with the Highly Commended recognition for Swinburne’s Vice-Chancellor's Research Excellence Early Career Award.
