Associate Professor Pio Iovenitti, was an important part of the Swinburne community for over 30 years.

During that time, Pio made many significant contributions to Swinburne and the engineering industry. For the last five years, Pio served as Course Director for Swinburne’s Bachelor of Engineering and led many important activities, including the Engineers Australia accreditations at our Hawthorn and Sarawak campuses.

“Pio exemplified the values of Swinburne,” says Dean of Engineering, Professor Emad Gad. “He was an effective leader, a team player and a trusted mentor who was admired dearly by his students and peers, combining the qualities of humbleness, hard work and dedication,” Professor Gad adds. 

The Pio Iovenitti Engineering Excellence Postgraduate scholarship has been established in honour of Pio’s legacy and dedication by his wife, Marisa with support from Pio’s former colleagues. The scholarship will support a second year Master of Engineering student.

  • “Pio was the first in his family to attend university and was passionate about his work and supporting students. Establishing this scholarship has been a wonderful way to honour Pio’s life and will help Swinburne students achieve their academic goals. I’m so pleased that Pio’s legacy and his achievements will live on through this scholarship.”
