Professor Laura-Anne Bull
Professor Laura-Anne Bull champions the student experience for all students, making sure the student voice is front and centre. When students join the Swinburne, Laura-Anne’s goal is to ensure they are provided with the skills and toolkit they need to have the best student experience possible in preparation for the next stage of their life, either in the workplace or further study. She wants their relationship with Swinburne to be founded on lifelong learning, and for every graduate to leave with a true connection to the institution.
Laura-Anne has also held senior leadership roles at the Australian National University, the University of South Australia and James Cook University. However, she started out studying Chemical Engineering where she earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1998 from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and then worked in industry before returning to university in 2001 to commence her academic career. From the offset Laura-Anne demonstrated a passion for students and their success and in 2010 became the Head of Student Experience where she was responsible for developing and delivering a broad strategy to improve the student experience.
In 2011 Laura-Anne moved to Australia where her focus has been on enhancing the student experience and ensuring as many students as possible get the chance to engage in the transformational experience that is education. As a first in family university student, education changed her life, and she wants everybody to have that opportunity. Laura-Anne has been at Swinburne University of Technology since November 2023 and is a member of the Vice Chancellor’s Executive Group.
