Overview

The Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship focuses on the fundamental principles of enterprise creation or renewal through the identification and analysis of new opportunities. It develops creative, innovative and entrepreneurship competencies as well as the fundamental knowledge and skills required to build a new enterprise, grow a small or medium sized business and develop a high-growth venture.

Study structure

Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship requires students to complete units of study to the value of 50 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.

To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, students must complete 50 credit points comprising of four core units of study.

  • Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
  • Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year
  • One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

Course Learning Outcomes

At completion of the Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, graduates will be able to:

  • Critically analyse entrepreneurial opportunities and evaluate for diverse contexts
  • Apply critical thinking and creative problem solving to address complex problems in entrepreneurial ventures, organisations and broader society
  • Proficiently lead entrepreneurial projects by applying professional knowledge and skills in an entrepreneurial discipline context
  • Communicate proficiently to a variety of audiences using the tools and practices of entrepreneurship.

Career opportunities

Graduates will have the fundamental skills to start and/or develop new enterprises or develop innovative thinking within an organisation. Graduates may find careers in business management, business and venture analysis, consultancy and as an owner operator of their own business

Maximum Academic Credit

The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation is 25 credit points (normally two units).
