General Information
Overview
he Graduate Certificate of Professional Data Analytics has been designed for students who wish to develop their knowledge of data analytics by getting an understanding of the challenges, techniques and tools of the data management lifecycle. Students will develop skills in relation to managing, interpreting, visualising and deriving knowledge from small to medium-sized data sets, allowing them to take on a variety of roles in data-driven decision making.
Study structure
Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Professional Data Analytics requires students to complete units of study to the value of 50 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
Full-time study: 100 credit points/eight standard units of study per year
Part-time study: 50 credit points/four standard units of study per year
One credit point is equivalent to one hour of study per week per semester (including contact hours and private study)

Learning outcomes
The Graduate Certificate is designed to provide an accessible learning pathway for individuals to accelerate their career in high job growth fields, and provides opportunities for working professionals to cross-skill or upskill.
Additionally, in the context of high unemployment due to the pandemic, it provides displaced workers with an entry point to emerging technology fields to future proof their careers.
Most importantly, each unit within the course is driven by learners completing projects which have been co-designed with Employer Partners
These projects reflect real-world business challenges, relevant to leading digital companies. In completing these projects, learners will develop:
- Theoretical knowledge and understanding required to solve the problem at hand;
- Technical skills and experience with key technologies so as to be able to complete the project;
- Enterprise skills and digital literacy required to effectively transition into the workplace in a business / data analyst role;
- A project portfolio which can be utilised to showcase their skills and understanding as they seek meaningful job and career outcomes.

This course provides graduates with knowledge and skills allowing them to undertake semi-professional work in the field of data analytics, and as a pathway for further learning. The Graduate Certificate of Professional Data Analytics provides graduates from non-IT backgrounds a path to move into a career as a data analyst.

Volume of learning
The Graduate Certificate of Professional Data Analytics consists of a total of 4 units (50 credit points). Units normally carry 12.5 credit points (cps). In each standard teaching period, four (4) units normally constitute a full-time load of 50 credit points and two (2) units normally constitute a part-time load of 25 credit points. The Volume of Learning for the Graduate Certificate of Professional Analytics is typically 6 months of full time study or equivalent
Maximum Academic Credit
The maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Professional Analytics is 25 credit points (normally two units).
