Course transition

Note: There are currently no courses available for transition. This information is provided for reference only.

Course transition is where students move or transfer into a new version of their degree. If your Open Universities Australia (OUA) degree changes and you wish to transition, you can apply to change your enrolment by completing the OUA Degree Transition Application form. All units completed during your original degree will contribute to the new degree and you won't have to repeat already completed subjects.

Before you apply

Before you submit a course transition application, you must ensure you understand the implications and have checked the degree planner information. After you’ve submitted a course transition application and been approved, you cannot change back to the old version of your course.

Once you have read and fully understood the implications of transitioning to the later version of your degree, you can complete the course transition application.

Open Universities Australia (OUA) degree planners

The OUA degree planners  are designed to help you identify which subjects you still need to complete in order to be eligible to graduate by showing you:

  • your degree structure and course rules
  • all subjects compulsory to your degree — for undergraduate degrees this includes all majors, co-majors and minors applicable to your degree
  • which subject codes or titles have changed
  • which of your subjects have been replaced over time, and which subjects replaced them
  • what non-Swinburne subjects are accredited to your degree (if any)
  • which of your subjects are now in teach-out phase and, if applicable, the study period and year that the subject will be offered for the last time.

In some cases, the OUA degree planners show how the subjects in your current degree are aligned with the subjects in the newer version of the degree.

Ensure you download the degree planner applicable to the year you were officially approved for admission into your degree. If you’re unsure of the year you were approved for admission, you can check this in your study plan in eStudent by clicking on your degree code.

Undergraduate OUA degree planners

Swinburne undergraduate degrees delivered through OUA are no longer accepting new students.; the final intake was Study Period 4, 2020.

If you are currently enrolled in a Swinburne undergraduate degree delivered through OUA, you need to plan your study carefully as units will be gradually phased out.

Degree planners are designed to help you complete for your qualification and show when each unit will be taught. Rrefer to the degree planner applicable to your intake year (the year you began your course).

Postgraduate OUA degree planners

These degree planners are updated in November/December each year, provided there are changes to the degree for the following year.

All postgraduate degree planners comprise degree structure information on the master, graduate diploma and graduate certificate levels of that degree suite, where applicable.
