Fee concessions for vocational students
Concessions provide eligible vocational education students with a discount of 80 percent off our standard tuition fees.
If you’re enrolling in a Certificate IV-level program or below, are eligible for a government-subsidised training place and hold a valid concession card, you may be eligible for a concession of 80 per cent off the published fee of your unit(s) tuition – which means you’ll only be charged 20 per cent of the published fee.
Eligible concessions are available to holders of a:
- Health Care Card issued by the Commonwealth
- Pensioner Concession Card
- Veteran Gold Card.
These concessions also apply to the dependent spouse and dependent children of the card holder.
How to receive a concession on your tuition fees
Swinburne uses Centrelink Confirmation eServices, which is a secure online verification system to perform enquiries regarding students' Centrelink or Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) customer details and concession card status to determine if students qualify for an educational concession.
To receive a concession on your tuition fees, you must provide Swinburne with your Centrelink Reference Number or DVA Number at the point of application or via the Confirm your eligibility for a Centrelink fee concession form before commencing your training. You will only need to provide your Centrelink Reference Number or DVA Number once.
Your concession entitlement will be verified against Centrelink Confirmation eServices once your Centrelink or DVA customer details are provided. The concession will be automatically applied against an eligible qualification and is triggered by unit enrolment(s) occuring in the previous 24 hours.
Note: Concessions on tuition fees are not available for higher level courses such as diplomas, advanced diplomas, vocational graduate certificates or vocational graduate diplomas unless you are eligible for the Skills First Aboriginal Access fee waiver.
For more information about concessions on tuition fees, visit the Victorian Government's Education and Training website.
When is concession card deemed valid?
A concession card is deemed to be valid where your card start date is prior to you commencing training.
How do I view my updated fees and generate my Statement of Accounts?
You can view your fees by logging in to My Financials to see if the concession has been applied, which will reduce your fees.
Skills First Aboriginal Access fee waiver
If you self-identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and qualify for a government-subsidised training place under Skills First, you are eligible for a fee waiver which will cover your tuition fees in full.
