Campus Gateway
This project is part of next gen_campus
Work is expected to start on Campus Gateway later this year.
Campus Gateway consists of a series of upgrades to Columbia and Frederick Streets, in conjunction with the City of Boroondara, creating a multi-story hub in the 1 Albert Street building, that activates the space surrounding Glenferrie train station, defining the entrance to the Hawthorn campus as a clear destination point.
Campus Gateway reflects the Urban Design Framework’s goal of delivering a campus with a strong sense of place and togetherness that reflects Swinburne’s core values of innovation and technology, offering student socialisation zones and information on how to move around campus.
Campus Gateway will be delivered through two key elements, the revitalisation of the streetscape including new landscaping along the railway line frontage, new garden beds and seating as well as the makeover and repurpose of the 1A building.
Swinburne is working with the City of Boroondara on the planning and development of this project and has been advised that Campus Gateway will be finalised during 2025.
