It'll be a unique opportunity for you to fill your winter break with memories of delicious French food, historical architecture and the peaceful coastal atmosphere of La Rochelle, all whilst gaining academic credit.

All courses are taught in English (except for French Culture & Gastronomy) by teachers who are experts in their fields and include cultural excursions and company visits while you work towards gaining credit for your Swinburne degree. These programs attract students from diverse backgrounds, creating a multicultural learning environment. This global exposure will allow you to broaden your perspectives, share ideas, and collaborate with peers from various cultures and countries!

Courses offered

Students may choose one of the following programs:

CSR & Event Management (La Rochelle, France)

Courses are taught entirely in English by faculty members who are experts in their respective fields. You will have the opportunity to learn how to implement the various CSR components on a practical level, through innovative case studies related to sustainable development. You will therefore acquire the key competencies to be able to develop a sustainable and ethical project in a specific business sector.

Fashion, Design & Luxury Industry (France/Italy)

This summer course focuses on luxury and fashion brands. To fully understand the specificities of the luxury and fashion industry and its management, you will explore the main advances and developments in the various luxury sectors. You will acquire an advanced understanding of the new global dimension of this industry, as well as the socio-cultural and context-related impacts on the branding of products in this sector.

French Culture & Gastronomy (La Rochelle, France)

La Rochelle has maintained its architectural heritage, making it one of the most picturesque and historically rich cities on the Atlantic coast. It is renowned for its delicious fish and seafood cuisine, and you will discover a wealth of dishes made with sea salt from the Ile de Ré, local mussels, world-famous Cognac, and Pineau des Charentes!

Sightseeing trips will be organised to enable you to experience the extensive history and culture: a tour of La Rochelle city and its Towers, the food market with its local products, 1 entry ticket for the annual Francofolies French music festival, oenology & wine tasting workshops, cooking classes, visit to a salt producer, visit to a Cognac and Pineau des Charentes producer, etc.

Note: students studying this course will be expected to have knowledge in French. A2/B1 to C2 level (CEFRL) is expected. However, students may be able to complete this course with beginner knowledge of French. You have the choice between 2 weeks or 4 weeks of classes.
