Overview
Spend your winter break immersed in the colours, sounds and tastes of Mexico. Over this four-week program, you'll have the opportunity to visit several Tec de Monterrey campuses in different cities. This means that you will learn about multiple regions of the country without ceasing your studies.
Each program has special activities, conferences and trips that will make the experience unforgettable!
Alternatively, you can also choose to learn Spanish language in Mexico (beginner, intermediate, or advanced), all while earning credit towards your Swinburne degree. Learn Spanish in Mexico, the second most widely spoken language in the world, and enrich your experience by choosing to explore Mexican culture in depth or learn about doing business in Mexico. You’ll discover a new culture, make friends from around the world and pick up some Spanish language skills in the process!
If you are passionate about learning other languages, connecting with people from different parts of the world, and are curious about Mexican culture, this program is perfect for you!

Eligibility criteria
To apply for this program, students must:
- be enrolled into an Undergraduate degree
- meet the overseas exchange program eligibility requirements
- meet any pre-requisites listed by the host institution and for the courses you choose
Academic credit
You are able to take this program as credit for one of your elective units. Alternatively, you may be able to use one core unit for this program, subject to approval from your Course Director.
Each course is worth 6 credits or 10 ECTS.
Credit equivalence
6 credits or 10 ECTS = 12.5 CP (1 unit) at Swinburne.

Costs
Program cost: USD$2,350 (approx. A$3630) for iSummerMX courses. No program costs for Spanish and Mexico courses.
Tuition fees to the host university are waived for students completing a short-term exchange program at one of our partner universities. You will continue to pay your regular tuition fees to Swinburne while you are on the program.
This program cost is paid to the host institution and may include the following:
- Housing
- Transportation for all program activities, including pick up on official arrival day and transfer from city to city.
- Breakfast six days of the week.
- Tickets to all visits and events of the program.
- Student arrival kit
- Health Insurance.
Note that there may be other costs incurred outside of tuition fees, including living expenses, airfares, and visas (if applicable). Program costs are accurate as of the latest website update and may be subject to change.

Funding your overseas journey may be easier than you think
Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants
This program may have Swinburne Abroad Travel Grants available (TBC early 2025).
This grant can help offset travel and living expenses for your overseas internship and are available to both Domestic and International UG or PG students. Students can apply for a grant as part of the application process.
OS-HELP Loan
Eligible Australian students can also apply for an Australian Government OS-HELP Loan of up to A$9,893 as at 2025 (depending on your program destination) to help cover costs associated with your overseas program. For more information on funding and eligibility see Fee Help and Scholarships.
Application
Students must first apply to Swinburne Abroad following the short-term exchange application process. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
