Professor Ian Young AO to join Australia’s leading research centre for ocean engineering, science and technology
In Summary
Professor Ian Young AO will join Australia’s leading research centre in ocean engineering at Swinburne University of Technology, following the announcement today that he will step down as Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University in February 2016.
Swinburne is the only university in Australia to have been recognised as ERA 5 (Well Above World Standard) in the field of maritime engineering.
The work that is conducted by Swinburne’s dedicated team of researchers at the Centre for Ocean Engineering, Science and Technology (COEST) is creating new knowledge in the fields of ocean and coastal engineering, oceanography, meteorology and climate studies.
“We are delighted to welcome Professor Young back to Swinburne after his time at the helm of the Australian National University,” said Swinburne’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Linda Kristjanson.
“Professor Young’s research interests in physical oceanography, maritime engineering and ocean engineering will add to the depth and breadth of research in these fields that is undertaken at Swinburne.”
Professor Young will take up his new role as Professor of Ocean Engineering at Swinburne in 2016.
