QS ranks Swinburne as one of the world’s top design schools
In Summary
Swinburne University of Technology has been recognised as having one of the best design schools in the world, by the 2015 QS World Rankings of Universities by Subject.
The University was one of only four institutions in Melbourne to be listed in the top 100 for the Art and Design subject area, illustrating the creative diversity within Melbourne.
Dean of Swinburne’s School of Design, Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside, said that the latest QS rankings reflected the strength of Swinburne’s design programs.
“At Swinburne, we provide our students with a range of opportunities, including industry placements, study tours and student projects that work directly with industry.
“We also have a strong international focus, with many of our students and academics participating in the Swinburne Design Factory, which is part of the Global Design Factory network. This gives our students access to a global network of industry and designers.”
This is the first time that Art and Design has been included in the QS rankings by subject, with five other categories also being added in 2015.
Swinburne’s School of Design is based at the Hawthorn campus and resides in the university’s newest building, the Advanced Manufacturing and Design Centre.
The QS subject rankings draw on a methodology similar to that used for the overall QS World University Rankings, with institutions scored for academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact.
Other notable Swinburne rankings in the 2015 QS World Rankings of Universities by Subject include:
