Swinburne graduate recognised with top honour from Design Institute of Australia

Swinburne graduate Alexandra Tyquin has been named Overall Graduate of the Year by the Design Institute of Australia Victoria and Tasmania Branch (DIA VIC TAS).
Ms Tyquin was recognised for being highly adaptable with an unwavering enthusiasm to understand and deliver design solutions, says DIA VIC TAS councillor Luca Abate.
“Whilst studying she also ran her own furniture business and was able to reflect on the challenges she faced, not only related to design but also manufacturing, logistics and marketing,” says Mr Abate.
“Her maturity, eye for detail and amazing motivation made her an outstanding graduate.”
Ms Tyquin graduated from industrial design in 2016 and is now working at Buzz Products.

Participating Victorian and Tasmanian tertiary institutes nominated their most talented 2016 graduates.
A panel of judges from each design discipline assessed anonymous portfolios in each design field. Each portfolio is evaluated on design solutions, transferable workplace skills and the graduate’s predicted impact on the Australian design industry.
