Members of the advisory board bring expertise and experience to assist the Iverson Health Innovation Research Institute in achieving its vision, objectives and strategy. This includes matters relating to specific program themes, relevant industry and sectoral trends, policy, skills and training, business development and market intelligence.
Professor Mukesh Haikerwal AC is a UK-trained physician specialising in General Practice in Melbourne. He’s received a Companion of the Order of Australia — Australia's highest civilian honour — for eminent service to medical governance, administration and technology, to medicine through leadership roles with a range of organisations, to education and the not-for-profit sector, and to the community of western Melbourne.
Anna Burgess is responsible for cancer service delivery, cancer research, health and medical research and delivery of the Victorian State Government Department of Health and Human Services’ strategies on international engagement in the health sector.
Dr Laura Faulconer is a founder, investor and mentor in deep tech startups, intellectual property rich and bleeding edge opportunities. She’s currently an early-stage venture capital investor with the New Zealand firm WNT Ventures.
Professor Ricky W Johnstone is a cancer researcher at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre who has utilised genetic mouse models of hemopoietic malignancies and solid tumors to understand the epigenetic changes that underpin tumor onset and progression, and to develop new therapies that target epigenetic and transcriptional regulatory proteins.
Professor Thomas Kay works with St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and is Chief Investigator A on an NHMRC Program Grant entitled Pathogenesis-based Treatment of Type 1 Diabetes, as well as Secretary of the International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association (IPITA).
Sue MacLeman has more than 25 years of experience as a pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical technology executive. MTPConnect is an independent not-for-profit championing a sector-led approach to accelerating the growth of the medical technology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical (MTP) ecosystem in Australia. MTP was established under the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science Industry Growth Centres Initiative.
Cameron Marcuccio is dedicated to managing and overseeing Enterprise Services and Solutions for Asia Pacific and Digital Services for Australia/New Zealand for Siemens Healthineers.
Stephen Tomisich is the Chairman and Founder of Trajan Scientific and Medical, which has research, development and production facilities in the USA, Malaysia and Australia and focuses on scientific and medical devices that enhance and integrate analytical measurement capabilities.
Nicola Watkinson was appointed by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission in 2016 to serve as Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for North America, responsible for its network of offices covering New York, Boston, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Washington as well as Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.
