Overview

The aim of this unit is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design human-centred user interfaces and manage collaborative projects effectively. Students will be introduced to the principles of user experience (UX) design and professional ethics within the context of an industry-relevant team project.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Apply a design thinking approach to understand and solve a stakeholder problem.
  • Propose and implement a project plan using industry-standard project management and collaboration tools.
  • Design, build and evaluate a user interface according to user requirements and human-centred design principles.
  • Effectively communicate project deliverables and artefacts to stakeholders using a variety of communication types and tools.
  • Identify and actively work towards closing project-related knowledge gaps by undertaking independent research and upskilling activities.
  • Apply best practice professional ethics and behavioural norms while actively contributing value to a team project.

Hurdle

To pass this unit, you must:

(i) achieve an overall mark for the unit of 50% or more, and
(ii) work in a team to complete the project to an acceptable standard.

Rubrics will be used to determine if students have met the acceptable standard.

The rubrics are available on Canvas. Students who do not successfully achieve hurdle requirement (ii) in full, will receive a maximum of 45% as the total mark for the unit.
