Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Analyse the structure and property of engineering materials based on heat treatment (K1, K2, K3, K4, S1, S2)
- Analyse different joining methods and engineered surfaces using different coating methods (K1, K4, S1, S2, A2)
- Research the failure of materials by the analysis of known failure case studies (S1, S2, A2)
- Use a series of materials removal processes and describe how a product is manufactured (K1, K2, K3, S1)
- Safely conduct experiments, analyse and interpret results and errors, and formulate conclusions (K1, S1, S2, A2)
- Apply sustainability software to carry out life cycle assessment of a product (K1, K2, K4, K5, K6, S1, S2, A2)
