Peter and Vaclav Havlicek Chemistry Scholarship 2025
The Peter and Vaclav Havlicek Chemistry Scholarship honours the legacy of Peter Havlicek, a distinguished and much respected member of Swinburne’s Department of Chemistry and a pioneer in the use of microcomputers.
These generous scholarships support talented science students who have or are overcoming hardships.
Each year, the scholarships provide financial assistance to both undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing a qualification in Chemistry at Swinburne University, with scholarships of $10,000 awarded to successful applicants.
Courses eligible
Undergraduate or Postgraduate of Science degree (including Double Degrees) at Swinburne University with the following majors:
- Chemistry
- Biochemistry
Eligibility / selection criteria
To be eligible for the The Peter and Vaclav Havlicek Chemistry and Biochemistry scholarship applicants must:
- Meet the following criteria:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
- Meet the following enrolment criteria:
- be a commencing or continuing Swinburne student in 2025
- enrolled full time (part time will be considered) in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
- Submit a personal statement (500 words) addressing the following points:
- a passion for the chosen field of study
- long term plans in the chosen field of study
- benefits of the scholarship
- Provide evidence of financial hardship. Disadvantage(s) may include:
- financial difficulty (Centrelink statement, payslips)
Value
The scholarships are valued as follows:
- Full-time students - $10,000 for 3 years, paid bi-annually.
There are up to 5 scholarships available.
