Swinburne Indigenous Advancement Scholarships 2025 (Vocational Education)

Swinburne Indigenous Advancement Scholarships (Vocational Education) have been generously funded by passionate members of the Swinburne donor community via our Indigenous Success Fund to provide support for Indigenous students in their studies. The fund has recognised the transformational nature of vocational education and has established these scholarships to help students reach their potential through access to further education.


Courses eligible

Any Vocational Education (Certificate IV and below, Diploma and Advanced Diploma) courses offered by Swinburne University of Technology. 


Eligibility / selection criteria

To be eligible for the Swinburne Indigenous Advancement Scholarships (Vocational Education), applicants must:

  1. Meet the following criteria:

    • be an Indigenous Australian citizen.
    • confirm that you are of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage by submitting a confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage certificate (COA) with your scholarship application, or a certified Statutory Declaration declaring that you are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and/or are accepted as such by the community in which you live or formerly lived.
  2. Meet the following enrolment criteria:

    • be a commencing Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2025.
    • be enrolled in an eligible course (see eligible courses in the section above).
    • be enrolled full-time or part-time.
  3. Provide a personal statement of 500 words or less, or a 2-minute video, outlining:

    • your passion and commitment to study, and how the scholarship will help you.
       
    • If providing a video, please upload to cloud based storage and provide a link in an MS Word or PDF document. The video must be downloadable by anyone - provide any passwords if necessary.
  4. Provide one written reference outlining your suitability for the scholarship from a person qualified to comment on academic studies, such as a subject coordinator, school principal, etc.


Value

The scholarships are valued as follows:

  • Full-time students - $5,000 for one year only, paid bi-annually
  • Part-time students - $2,500 for up to two years, paid bi-annually

Multiple scholarships are available for 2025.

Applicants should complete an online application form and submit with all supporting documentation. Applications close 16 March 2025.
