Integrated Professional Placement B - Behavioural Science
Overview
The aim of this unit is to provide students with a second six months of directed, experiential learning opportunities in the real-world context of their professional placement.
Building on Integrated Professional Placement A, students have the opportunity to contextualise their university studies in practice, reflecting on and learning from workplace experiences and documenting their professional development.
Students develop broader professional skills such as complex problem solving, research and analysis, and adaptability and ability to understand, interact and respond to ideas and people of different work contexts and backgrounds.
Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Re-negotiate objectives of the placement, reflect on career expectations and demonstrate professional growth
- Demonstrate professional communication for a range of audiences, including for discipline-specific industry
- Reflect on work throughout the placement, evaluate own performance and demonstrate learning for improved practice
- Link disciplinary knowledge and skills taught at university to real-world application(s)

- Achieved an overall mark for the unit of 50% or more
Content
- Building on the previous units of study, students continue work in the industry or community placement to which they are assigned, under the supervision of their Industry Supervisor
- Students will, with guidance from a discipline-specific Swinburne Academic Supervisor, reflect on their professional placement experience to draw links with discipline knowledge and evidence the development and growth of their employability skills
- Students will be required to respond to feedback from stakeholders in ways that inform and improve future practice
- Structured assessment will allow students the opportunity to illustrate and measure learning and to share experiences for a variety of audiences
