Overview
This unit of study enhances student knowledge in the area of postproduction and editing practice including - an introduction to advanced editing software and techniques, postproduction pathways and workflows, and media management including digital compression, colour grading techniques and the distribution of mastered and preview copies of mastered work.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Explain post-production pathways and workflows, and file management as applicable to a variety of digital formats and screen production outcomes.
- Apply advanced editing skills such as framing, scene structure, rhythm and pacing in editing short form projects across a variety of genres
- Use high-end post-production software in round tripping digital files for the purpose of colour grading and sound mixing in finishing and outputting short-form screen production projects.
- Apply colour grading knowledge and technical skills to enhance the appearance of screen media
- Work to industry standard specifications in the post production of all short-form screen productions using advanced non-linear editing skills

Content
- Advanced editing techniques using a variety of industry standard editing and colour grading software.
- Digital post production pathways and workflows: managing post workflows including transfer of files, correct formats for editing; compression rates, and outputting intermediate and master files.
- Digital Asset Management, archive and backup
- Syncing rushes and round tripping for colour grading and sound mixing purposes.
- Graduate Attribute – Communication Skills: Communicating using different media
- Graduate Attribute – Digital Literacies: Technical literacy.
