Overview
This unit develops video production knowledge and skills in the field of news and media. Students will research, film and edit a short documentary project which will showcase their interests and result in a strong piece for their journalism or media portfolio. It will teach students to operate industry standard equipment and editing software.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Critically analyse and evaluate local, national and international long form and documentary practices in video journalism
- Work independently to produce an engaging and original short documentary encompassing diverse sources and perspectives
- Apply sophisticated story-telling techniques to research, record and edit to deadline
- Observe industry standard ethical and legal requirements for professional practice in video and documentary storytelling
