Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Generate a business opportunity idea for a product and/or service and apply basic marketing concepts to evaluate its market potential (A3, A4)
- Apply core operations management concepts to create and deliver the developed business (K5, K6, S1, S2, S4, A1, A2, A4, A5, A6, A7)
- Describe problem solving methods in operations management including quality management, maintenance and reliability (K5, S2, S4)
- Apply basic legal concepts to engineering professional practice including contract and business structure protocols and laws (A1, A2, A5, A6)
- Analyse and interpret business performance via basic financial reports (K5, S4)
- Describe micro and macroeconomics and its relevance to business management (K5, S4)
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate by presenting to an audience and responding to questions (A2)

Hurdle
As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:
Students who do not successfully achieve hurdle requirement (ii) will receive a maximum of 45% as the total mark for the unit.
