
Current Issues in Social Psychology
Overview
This unit examines selected contemporary issues in social psychology, such as cognitions, emotions and behaviours of individuals and groups in the context of love, work, and play. Theories, methods, and empirical findings that are of current social interest will be critically examined, giving students a framework for developing advanced knowledge and critical thinking skills.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Explain the main theoretical issues relating to social psychology and discriminate between competing perspectives
- Model advanced understanding of the methodological and empirical practices of research within social psychology
- Appraise social psychological perspectives with a range of applied areas
- Apply sophisticated verbal and written communication skills in a social psychology context
