Work Experience in Industry B
Overview
Building on the previous units of study, this unit forms the second six months of supported full time work-based learning in an area relevant to a student’s discipline of studies. Students develop broader professional skills such as professional initiative and communication, resilience, adaptability and self awareness and the ability to engage with a variety of workplace issues and contexts. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of the professional workplace, effectively participate and contribute to the workplace, and self-evaluate as a professional practitioner for improving future practice, supporting their transition from student to professional.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Self evaluate professional skills and disciplinary knowledge within industry
- Work effectively in the workplace and be able to understand, interact, and respond to ideas and people of different work contexts and backgrounds
- Respond to professional feedback and utilise reflection throughout the placement for improved professional practice

Content
This unit is undertaken concurrently with Integrated Professional Placement A. Together the units provide supported This unit provides supported work-based learning in a real-world context.
- Students will work in the industry or community placement to which they have been assigned, under the supervision of their Industry Supervisor
- Students will be allocated a discipline-specific Swinburne Academic Supervisor who has relevant industry knowledge of their placement area
- Students will be required to respond to feedback from stakeholders in ways that inform and improve future practice
- Assessment is designed to support professional communication and feedback mechanisms used in industry
