Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Describe intelligent inspection systems and their applications to the manufacturing industry (K5, A2)
  • Identify the various sensing techniques available and how they are combined with other equipment and software to form inspection systems (K2, K5, A2, A4)
  • Apply some tools for inspection and measurement to simple problems (K1, K2, K3, K4, S1, S2, S3, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7)
  • Explain some of the algorithms used in the simple digital image processing software (K2, A2, A3, A4)
  • Explain the trends in inspection technology development and their applications (K4, A2, A3, A4)

Hurdle

As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:

(i) an aggregate mark of 50% or more, and(ii) at least 40% in the final exam.Students who do not successfully achieve hurdle requirement (ii) will receive a maximum of 45% as the total mark for the unit.
