Overview

This unit introduces students to the technical/logistical techniques, and interpersonal skills needed for collaborative animation short-form preproduction. Students employ best-practice methods to merge creative ideas with commercial considerations, and complete individual and group tasks to deepen their understanding of roles and responsibilities across the animation industry. Students plan, develop, and pitch their group animation projects; successful pitches continue production into the following semester.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Research and utilise methods to develop multimedia content for animated preproduction
  • Use appropriate language to describe the initial process and early-stage progress of iterative animation
  • Apply best practice management and presentation strategies to develop written and visual assets for animated outcomes
  • Apply technical and interpersonal skills across individual and group animation development
  • Critically evaluate preproduction for achievability, commercial viability and impact within the animation industry.
