Overview

The aim of this unit is to enable students to make business decisions regarding route and aircraft selection, as constrained by various civil aviation regulations and aircraft characteristics and performance. Students will be able to support the planning and on the day operations of an airline network from the perspective of aircraft constraints and opportunities.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Identify and interpret the regulatory boundaries that determine how an aircraft must be operated
  • Discern relevant aircraft operating characteristics
  • Explain standardised processes fundamental to the routine operation of aircraft in an airline or air charter environment
  • Interpret and translate technical data applicable to the operation of an aircraft from a management perspective
  • Evaluate the impact of operational conditions and constraints upon an aircraft's performance and airline business processes
  • Apply a technical understanding of the aircraft to make informed aviation business decisions
