Aviation Capstone 1: Project Planning
Overview
In this unit, students will begin a capstone project with an external partner who has a critical aviation challenge that needs investigation. In the first stage, they will ideate, research, plan, and pitch their ideas to the partner. Students will apply the professional skills they've learned throughout their degree to build a realistic, budgeted, and considered project proposal throughout the semester.
Requisites
OR
250 credit points in an undergraduate Aviation double degree
OR
150 credit points in an undergraduate Aviation single degree

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Conduct desktop and action research using a wide variety of approaches and tools including data management
- Communicate effectively, appropriately and respectfully with key stakeholders using verbal, visual and written communication skills
- Collaborate successfully in teams demonstrating professional, ethical, and inclusive behaviour
- Engage stakeholders and consider environmental, social and economic impacts to the community including Indigenous Peoples
- Use reflective practice for personal and professional development

Hurdle
As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:
- At least 50% for the Group Project Deliverables (Portfolio)Students who do not successfully achieve this hurdle requirement will receive a maximum of 45% as the total mark for the unit.
