Commercial Pilot Licence Theory 2
Overview
To provide students with the required aviation theoretical knowledge in the areas of Navigation, Operations, Performance & Planning, Flight Rules & Air Law for the Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane), as well as flight under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), as detailed in the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Part 61 Manual of Standards (MOS).

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Explain the environmental, legal and human factors that affect flying operations at the Commercial Pilot Level under the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR)
- Safely and accurately apply theoretical knowledge to flying operations at the Commercial Pilot Level under the VFR and IFR and
- Demonstrate an understanding of the unit content sufficient to pass the CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) Theory Examinations for Navigation, Operations, Performance & Planning and Flight Rules & Air Law
- Demonstrate an understanding of the unit content sufficient to pass the CASA Instrument Rating (IREX) Examination

Hurdle
To pass this unit and achieve all Unit Learning Outcomes to a minimum standard, a student must pass all assessments and must attend a minimum of 80% of the scheduled classes.
Content
This unit of study satisfies the theoretical knowledge requirements specified in the CASA Part 61 MOS for three of the seven subjects required for the award of a Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane), as well as the award of an Instrument Rating by CASA. It consists of the following areas of aviation theoretical knowledge:
