Overview
This unit will introduce fashion design fundamentals with an emphasis on the understanding of three-dimensional forms. Essential pattern making and garment construction techniques and industry standards will be introduced. Students will explore the fashion design process by developing fashion design concepts through prototyping.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in fundamental fashion prototyping techniques, including pattern making and garment construction
- Utilise pattern blocks to develop designs and patterns that are industry appropriate
- Apply fashion design principles to fashion concepts
- Develop design proposals through annotated drawings, prototypes and presentations
