Overview

This unit will assist students to enhance their professional skills and knowledge in relation to the practice of design. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the many management issues relating to design projects. They will closely examine the financial, legal and administrative practices relating to employers, employees, clients, stakeholders, and government standards, which are common to small design consultancies and studios.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Evaluate the professional skills, roles and responsibilities of an industrial designer or interior architecture student
  • Identify the financial, legal, ethical and administrative aspects required in running a design studio
  • Create a design proposal, which applies relevant fundamental financial, legal, ethical and administrative concepts
  • Prepare a design project plan supported with relevant professional documentation as per Australian and International regulations
