Overview

This unit serves as the culmination of the students' academic studies, merging their research, design and practical skills in a presentation of their design collection and a portfolio of work that meets a professional standard. Students will conceptualise, prototype and construct a fashion outcome through self-directed learning, providing the opportunity to showcase their individuality and skill through an exhibition or a display of finished fashion collection pieces. This unit equips students for entry into the fashion industry and differentiates our graduates leveraging on the unique outcomes developed throughout the degree.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Apply creative problem solving, critical thinking and research skills to answer a complex project brief for fashion futures
  • Develop a evidenced-based strategy for a complex, clearly defined design problem
  • Design and construct a fashion collection for an appropriate target market
  • Evaluate the design process and final solution through concise, cohesive and well-structured documentation, design outcomes and presentations
  • Develop a design portfolio that showcases the breadth of creative capabilities and communicates future employment aspirations
