Overview

This unit will provide students with leadership and business skills critical for dietetic professionals looking to move into business or private practice. It will also explore health entrepreneurship and support students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset that incorporates creativity, innovation, diagnostic and critical abilities needed for work readiness in a changing world.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Evaluate and synthesise entrepreneurial approaches in the nutrition domain, demonstrating the ability to conceptualise and refine innovative business models.
  • Develop a comprehensive business plan that reflects a nuanced understanding of business practices and market opportunities relevant to nutrition and dietetics.
  • Interpret and apply contemporary legal, professional, and health insurance frameworks relevant to entrepreneurship in dietetics.
  • Formulate strategies for client engagement and brand promotion within the context of a nutrition business, incorporating insights into consumer behaviour and strategic marketing principles.
