Overview

This unit takes emerging entrepreneurs to the next level. Students will hone their skills in leadership, business, and management to bring an entrepreneurial project to life. By focusing on specific aspects of their projects, they will develop deep expertise relevant to their chosen challenge. They will validate opportunities and ideas, create products and services, develop business models, address IP and commercial potential, and determine how to bring solutions to market smartly and sustainably. Experiencing the everyday practices of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs will get them ready to pitch and launch their projects.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Apply strategic and critical thinking to re-frame opportunities and inform problem-solving in relation to an entrepreneurial project or venture
  • Implement research, prototyping and testing to develop solutions that balance technical, human, environmental and economic considerations
  • Use storytelling to articulate critical insights and project outcomes using verbal and visual communication processes
  • Collaborate in teams by applying an entrepreneurial mindset, self-leadership and inclusive decision-making
  • Discuss and reflect on the challenges of entrepreneurial practice and implementing innovation and creative processes through seminars, interdisciplinary workshops and self-directed learning
