Overview
This Unit investigates and critically reviews methods and techniques that are used in the development, pre-production and production of film and television projects. It aims to further develop a sophisticated understanding of the pre-production process. The Unit will explore the key roles in development, pre-production and production of industry standard work. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate on group projects focusing on an area of specialisation within the film and television industries

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Create a short film production portfolio compiled from appropriate industry standard documents, including budgets, schedules, OH&S, and legal requirements
- Implement relevant knowledge and skills of an area of film specialisation in the development and pre-production of a short film
- Assess and critically evaluate an aesthetic approach that takes into account individual specialisations as related to film and video production
- Assess and critically evaluate the impact of a film production within a logistical, social and environmental context, including working with First Nations and other marginalised communities.
