Overview

This unit fosters critical research and analysis skills in relation to screen media. It promotes the investigation of diverse research methodologies and the employment of these methodologies in the development of an individualised research project. Drawing on students’ own project work and/or other screen material, this subject seeks to contextualise the students own practice in the context of film theory and the work of other practitioners. Focusing on the production element(s) of their choice, students will gain a more complex understanding of creative practice research, positioning them for successful placement within industry. This investigation may necessitate approaches to both historic and contemporary First Nations depictions on screen from both a settler and an indigenous perspective. This unit acknowledges historic practices in production and a commitment to developing a more inclusive and conscious approach to the varied pathways to production success.
