Overview
This unit introduces students to techniques associated with the design and implementation of a range of web technologies. Students are introduced to aspects of interactivity and other software-based techniques for generating and managing simple websites. Students are also introduced to the concepts, language, requirements and procedures of both interactive and web design. They will develop an interactive literacy to collaborate with technical specialists on the implementation of more complex web projects.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Design and implement a simple, functioning website
- Plan the structure and extent of a web site viewed across multiple screen formats, including the briefing documents
- Manage image and text resources, and aesthetic aspects of typography, for inclusion in a website
- Establish informational and functional aspects for websites, such as typographic hierarchies, information architecture and navigational links for use across mobile devices
- Reflect on the design development process building reflective practice capabilities
