To provide a flexible program of study which allows the student to undertake a special project. This would require research into a topic that is relevant to the course but alternative to the prescribed units in Stage 2.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Review the literature and critically evaluating the state-of-the-art of selected Information technology research topics
  • Conduct independent research into a given topic in Information Technology
  • Prepare a research report summarising the aims, procedures, results and conclusions of independent research into a given topic in Information Technology

Hurdle

As the minimum requirements of assessment to pass a unit and meet all ULOs to a minimum standard, an undergraduate student must have achieved:

an overall mark for the unit of 50% or more

Content

Students will prepare an approximately 5,000-word article or research report on a topic chosen in consultation with supervising staff. This will generally take the form of a comprehensive literature review of a topic of contemporary interest.
